Superintendent’s Message

April 16, 2013

Hello again Timberlane!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many 8th grade parents that reached out to share their thoughts and concerns as they prepare for their children’s transition to High School. We are working diligently on the reorganization of our high school and I am very enthusiastic about the positive changes we have made this year. We have many challenges and opportunities due to the Common core implementation. I can assure you that Timberlane is more than ready to thrive in this increasing age of accountability.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate the class of 2014. Your energy and commitment to achievement on this year’s NECAP test is commendable! We will be celebrating your success later this month. Recognizing and celebrating excellence is critical if we expect the classes that follow yours to live up to the high standards that you have set. Well done Class of 2014.

Our Freshman Academy will be presenting to our current 8th grade over the next few weeks. We are focusing on a smooth transition to our high school. Just like College, your first year is crucial for establishing the work ethics needed to provide you all of the options post high school that you deserve. But to really deserve those opportunities you need to earn them first. Our teachers collaborate to create student centered learning. Team building and student engagement foster personalization of learning. By hand scheduling each and every student entering our high school Freshman Academy we are able to place students in classes and programs that give students that great start previously mentioned. If you are a current 8th grade parent I encourage you to find out more about our Freshman Academy. You will be glad that you did!
This year elementary and middle school students took the NWEA exams. We will send home individual results in early May at the middle school and in late May at the elementary school level. The staggered testing dates make it necessary to send home results at different times. I know students and parents are eagerly awaiting these results. Please take some time to understand what the results may mean and if unclear please contact your building principals for more information.
We are currently reviewing our food services and looking to make improvements for next year. I would like to thank the families and building principals for working through some of the growing pains this year. Your support is very much appreciated.

I am always interested in feedback about any and all experiences you may have had in the Timberlane Regional School District. You have heard me say this before, but it is so true. You can only get better at what you do if you are honest with where you are. Please continue to be honest, not kind. You can reach me at Email or by calling Cathy Belcher at 603-382-6119. Thanks again for your continued support!
