ENGINEERING ADVISORY BOARD HOLDS FIRST MEETING OF 2015/16 SCHOOL YEAR

September 3, 2015

As part of the Project Lead the Way program, TRHS has partnered with a number of local business and industries to create an advisory board to facilitate a mutual benefit between Timberlane students and industry. This board, comprised of teachers, students, administrators, and industry professionals, meets numerous times throughout the year to discuss such items as field trips, internships, a mentoring program, and best educational and engineering practices and skills needed of the future work force (current students). The first meeting of this board will take place on Thursday, September 10th at Timberlane Regional High School starting at 8:00 AM.
Through these partnerships, TRHS students have had the opportunity to tour the advanced manufacturing facilities of Sparton Services in Plaistow, Data Electronic Devices in Salem, New Balance in Lawrence, and Scheinder Electric in Andover. At each of these facilities, students were able to interact with a variety of engineers discussing not only the advances in technology, but the educational paths that lead people into the advanced manufacturing work force. Plans for this year include these tours and more for our students. Industry members on the advisory board include:
• Sparton Corp. – Plaistow, NH
• Data Electronic Devices, Inc – Salem, NH
• New Balance – Lawrence, MA
• Scott Electronics – Salem, NH
• Teledyne DGO – Portsmouth, NH
• New Hampshire Manufacturing Extension Partnership – Concord, NH
• Highliner Foods- Portsmouth, NH
• Schneider Electric – Andover, MA
• New Hampshire Technical Institute – Concord, NH
