Kindergarten students will have a 2.5 hours day. AM Kindergarten will be from 8:30-11:00 AM and the PM session will be from 12:30-3:00 PM.

Will we flip AM/PM in mid year?

We will not flip AM/PM in mid year. 

How will AM/PM classes be chosen?

Forms were mailed out to all parents that had already registered their kindergarten aged children. Forms are available on line. If there are a high number of requests for a particular session, student enrollment will be determined by lottery.  Special circumstances noted will be considered.
 

How many students per class?

Every school in the Timberlane School District follows the class size policy, which has been approved by our School Board. All Kindergarten and first grade classrooms should not exceed 20 students.

Will the kindergarteners have recess?

The student day is not long enough to have a regularly scheduled recess but each teacher will use their knowledge of a 5 year old and give appropriate breaks as needed.

What will the day consist of for the incoming kindergartener?

The student’s day will consist of reading and math instruction as well as other age appropriate activities such as learning to hold a pencil, cut paper and color.

Will specials like art, music and physical education be offered to the kindergarten?

Kindergarten classes will not be offered traditional 45 minute specials with art, music or PE,. However, teachers will have an opportunity to work alongside building art, music and PE teachers to create lessons that incorporate these areas into the kindergarten students’ day.

Will my child have an assigned seat on the bus?

Yes, all students riding the bus will have assigned seats. All Kindergarten students will occupy the first rows, followed by our new first graders. Kindergarteners will be taken off the buses first when they arrive at school to assure that everyone gets off safely.  Buses will be met by school staff when they arrive at the building. 

Will there be a snack time?

Yes, however snack times will be determined by individual teachers. All snacks and drinks should be provided by the home.

Will there be an open house for my child to view the school?

All four schools will hold an open house for incoming Kindergarteners and first graders on August 30th. More information will be given out as it becomes available.
