Superintendent’s Message

May 13, 2013

Hello again Timberlane!

This is such an exciting time of year as we wind down, especially for seniors graduating in a few short weeks. The Class of 2013 has left its mark on Timberlane and recently celebrated a Day of Compassion together. What made this day special is that it was fully developed, implemented and evaluated by Timberlane’s Student Leadership Committee. The Class of 2013 will be remembered for many great things, and their legacy will include being remembered as a class that modeled compassion for others. Compassion is certainly a characteristic that all classes should aspire to.

We are currently finalizing our restructuring plans at both our Middle and High Schools. Several new administrators have been selected and are planning a new systemic approach to secondary education in Timberlane, focusing on Vertical Teams grades 6-12. High School Guidance Department Head Barry Chooljian has accepted additional responsibilities and will now lead our Guidance services in grades 6-12. Our focus will be improving services offered to all students, especially at the “At Risk” population. Taking an honest look at our current programs, especially programs that focus on “dropout prevention” and making sure that those programs align with our current expectations of high standards and achievement for all students coupled with accountability, will certainly help execute our mission.

Our Principals and Directors are finalizing their Action Plans and will be presenting those plans to our School Board for approval and adoption in September. Our District Action Plan, along with our School and Program Action Plans, will make our work as a District clear to all of our stakeholders.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Timberlane Middle School Teacher, Sue Sherman, for being named the South Central Champion for Children and is a finalist for the entire State of New Hampshire later this month. Ms. Sherman has been an outstanding member of our learning community and continues to give at an extraordinary level.

Also, congratulations to Mr. DiBartolomeo for being named the State of New Hampshire’s Music Teacher of the Year. Mr. “D” has been leading the learning in music education for many years and is considered to be at the top of the class not just regionally but nationally as well.

I hope you have the opportunity to join us in one or more of the many of the year end celebrations and performances. We are fortunate to have so many talented students at every level. Trust me; you will be happy that you did!
As always, thank you for your continued support and feedback. Please feel free to contact me directly at Email or by calling Cathy Belcher at 603-382-6119 to share your thoughts and concerns.
