Timberlane’s Commitment to Rigor and Accountability Translates to College Readiness

ACT TESTING RESULTS – The Timberlane Regional School District is pleased to announce that 70% of Timberlane ACT tested students met benchmark scores in all four tested categories, including College English Composition, Algebra, Social Science, and Biology as compared to 52% at the state level. Benchmark scores provide an indication of a student’s preparedness for college-level coursework.

The ACT® test is the nation’s most popular college entrance exam accepted and valued by all universities and colleges in the United States. The ACT is based on what students learn in high school and provides personalized information about their strengths for education and career planning[1].

Timberlane strives to increase the student readiness for college-level coursework through the implementation of rigorous curricula and high quality learning opportunities as evidenced by these scores.

SAT SCHOOL DAY – The Timberlane Regional School District is pleased to share that 64% of Grade 11 students met or exceeded benchmarks on state accountability testing in Reading and Writing, and 44% met or exceeded benchmarks in Mathematics. Timberlane students outperformed this year’s state averages for meeting both benchmarks as reported by College Board.

The Grade 11 state-wide accountability measure, “SAT School Day”, assesses English Language Arts (Reading and Writing) and Mathematics.  Since the assessment is aligned with New Hampshire’s College and Career Readiness standards and Timberlane curricula, students are presented with assessment items that reflect what they learn in their classrooms each day.

Executive Director of Data, Assessment, and Accountability, Mrs. Christi Michaud, congratulates Timberlane students and educators on their achievements that undoubtedly reflect excellent teaching and learning.  “The Timberlane team continues to work toward increasing levels of complexity and challenge for students through assessment data analysis, personalized instructional approaches, and by exploring innovative ways to serve students.”

Superintendent Dr. Earl Metzler states, “Academic excellence in Timberlane is now something we have come to expect, not just hope for. Meeting and exceeding these benchmarks requires a consistent commit to rigor and accountability. Congratulations to the students and staff for their commitment to academic excellence!”
