Principal’s News – September 2017

September 27, 2017

Hello Families,

We had a very exciting and eventful first few weeks of school. The rooms are looking wonderful and the hallways are warm and welcoming with fresh paint. Our “owl” theme can be seen throughout the building which has created a very positive and happy site. Staff have been working together reviewing curriculum and making sure their instruction is tailored to meet the needs of all the children. I am constantly impressed and proud of how dedicated and hard working our staff is. Some of the highlights from this past month include food, sand and books.

The children are very excited to be playing in our new sandbox that was built by the custodians. We have had many smiling faces and positive feedback from both children and staff that play in it when out at recess. Encouraging movement and social play is very important for our youngest learners and the sandbox adds another option for our students.

Staff were greeted this fall with a new Healthy4U Vending machine. It has healthy options for meals, snacks and drinks to keep the adults energized for the day. The staff have been busy getting to know their students and assessing where the children are academically. This data will help us better serve each child and tailor our instruction to be more personalized and effective.

The library is need of some TLC and we can use some volunteers to help us organize our books and tracking system. If anyone can assist, please contact the main office at 887-3648.

As always, feel free to contact me to chat and have a building tour.

Warm regards,

Principal Jen Marino
