BEDFORD — Ken Osbon began coaching so he would never have to grow up.

When he accepted the Walter A. Smith Coaches Award at the New Hampshire Union Leader’s “The Leaders: A Celebration of New Hampshire Sports Champions” banquet Sunday at Manchester Country Club, the former Dover High School football coach thanked his players, among others, for allowing him to achieve that goal.

The annual event, which celebrates New Hampshire’s standout coaches, officials and athletes, is sponsored by Apple Therapy Services, Express MED and Bedford Ambulatory Surgical Center.

Osbon, a Rollinsford native, was honored alongside the late Socrates “Soc” Bobotas, who founded Laconia’s Little League program; Dana Bourassa, who was Plymouth Regional’s first wrestling coach and later founded the wrestling program at Milford High School; Timberlane of Plaistow baseball coach Jaime Fish; former Manchester cross-country coach Doug Glance; Inter-Lakes of Meredith volleyball coach Randy Mattson; and Manchester’s Mark Telge, who coached tennis for 41 years, football for 40 and basketball for 27.  Read More…

Through sales of Owls Nest shirts this fall and the support of Timberlane students, staff, parents and friends as well as Life Of An Owl they were able to purchase nearly 100 gifts for 40 kids.  Seen here are Owls Nest founder Kendall Morrill along with Cooper Kelly, Anna Alberti and Emily Alberti.

Congratulations to TRHS Class of 2020 students Cody Fleming and Matt Licata.

Cody Fleming will be attending Division 2 Southern New Hampshire University for the fall of 2020.  His parents, Kelley Shepard and Paul Fleming, as well as the TRHS athletic community are so very proud of his accomplishments. He has been a starter for the Timberlane Owls Varsity since his freshman year accumulating a team Iron Man Award each year, a Division 2 Second Team All-Star his sophomore year, and a Division 1 Second Team All-Star his junior year.

Coach Ken Blaszka says “Ever since Cody came to the high school, his knowledge of the game, his ability to do whatever is asked, has allowed him to be one of the best midfielders to come out of Timberlane.  He is calm and cool in all situations.  Cody has the respect of his teammates.  I cannot express how proud of him I am as a young man and person.”

Matt Licata will be attending Division 1 Villanova for the fall of 2020.  Together with his parents, Karen and Bernard Licata, the TRHS athletic community celebrate Matt’s acceptance into this strong and prestigious program. A starter since his Freshman year, he has built up an impressive resume with the Owls.  A two-time MVP sophomore and junior year, an Owl Award his freshman year, Division 2 Second Team freshman year, Division 2 1st Team sophomore year, Division 1 1st Team his junior year.

Coach Ken Blaszka tells us “Matt’s personality and his ability to practice at a high level along with his attention to detail have enabled him to become a part of an elite Division 1 university and lacrosse program.”
