Safety Announcement from Mr. Hogan

November 7, 2013

Hello Timberlane Middle School Parents:

This is Principal Michael Hogan, calling to make an important safety announcement regarding the pickup and drop off of students at the Middle School.

Due to the large amount of traffic entering and exiting the middle school campus each day the following protocol shall be followed:

Parents picking up or dropping off students shall use the lane closest to the sidewalk in front of the school.  This is the only lane designated for picking up and dropping off students.  Please do not use the moving traffic lane for pick up or drop off as this creates both vehicle and pedestrian safety issues.

Because the pick and drop off lane is also the official fire lane, under no circumstances or during any time are vehicles in this lane to be left unattended.  I repeat: vehicles in the fire lane are not to be left unattended for any reason.  Should drivers need to leave their vehicle, they are to use the visitor parking spaces.

When exiting the pick up/drop off lane, please be mindful of the crosswalk in front of the school and yield to all pedestrians using it.

I apologize for the seriousness of this message, however; it is our goal to make this process as safe as possible for all students, staff and parents.  Thank you for cooperation.  Together we can improve the current pick up and drop off process and insure safety for everyone.
