Press Release Regarding TSSU Negotiations

October 31, 2016

The Timberlane School Board releases this statement on behalf of its negotiating team:

On October 27, 2016, the Timberlane Support Staff Union walked away from the bargaining table and declared impasse before seeing the Board’s first proposal concerning wages and benefits. The Timberlane Regional School Board Negotiating Team is disappointed that the TSSU union declared impasse prematurely. The Board’s first offer was scheduled to be presented and discussed at an all-day bargaining session on October 28th. Not only was the Board surprised by this tactic, but it was saddened the Union chose to go to the media to air its concerns before the Board even had the opportunity to address them at the bargaining table.

The Board and its negotiation team has met numerous times over the last two months and our team has spent hours preparing budgets, as well as salary and health insurance information in order to present accurate information during negotiations. With over 60 days remaining before the deadline to complete negotiations, the Board remains committed to reaching a fair deal and will participate in mediation and the fact finding process if necessary.
