Important Social Media Information for Parents and Guardians

July 31, 2017

This message is written to inform our parents and guardians about serious and dangerous social media activities this summer. We have learned that many school administrators in the Northeast are taking the opportunity to inform families of a new macabre online activity known as the “Blue Whale Challenge.” This challenge can be found on Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat as well as other social media. The challenges start out as seemingly harmless and then progress to more serious challenges.

We are providing this information to you so that you are aware and can be proactive in the steps you take to reinforce positive use of social media. Please take the time this summer to have open, healthy discussions about your children’s use of social media, reinforce the good decision making that you expect from your children and let them know they may go to a trusted adult for assistance in making positive social media choices. If you notice changes in your children, please reach out to the appropriate professionals for assistance.

You may certainly contact Susan Rasicot, Director of Student Services 603-382-6119 ext. 2224, with questions regarding this notification.
